How Center for Acupuncture & Anti-Aging Medicine handles your information — both the health information you share as a patient and the data collected when you use this website.
Last updated · Center for Acupuncture & Anti-Aging Medicine, 2222 Santa Monica Blvd, Suite 203, Santa Monica, CA 90404
Health information is handled separately
Information you share as a patient — your health history, treatment records, and anything discussed in an appointment — is protected health information. It is handled under our HIPAA obligations and our Notice of Privacy Practices, which is a separate document provided to you at your first appointment and available on request.
Please do not send health information through this website, by email, or by text message. Those channels are not secure. If you need to share something clinical, tell us at your appointment or by phone. We also have a secure messaging channel available through our appointment system.
What this website collects
When you contact us or book an appointment we collect what you provide: your name, phone number, email address, and anything you choose to write in a message. Booking is handled by our practice management system, which collects the information needed to schedule and administer your care.
We also collect standard website analytics — pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site, including any referring website or advertising campaign. This is used to understand which pages are useful and where patients find us.
This website also uses Microsoft Clarity, which records how visitors use our pages (for example clicks and scrolling) so we can improve them, and a visitor-identification service, IntentWave, which may recognize some visitors by matching their visit against its own data. If you use the chat widget, what you type is handled like any other inquiry.
How we use it
To respond to inquiries, schedule and administer appointments, provide care, handle billing and insurance claims, meet our legal and professional obligations, and improve this website. We do not sell your personal information for money. Some tools on this website may count as “sharing” under California law; see your California privacy rights below.
Text messages and calls
If you give us your mobile number we may contact you about appointments, including confirmations and reminders. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of text messages at any time, or HELP for assistance. Opting out of text messages does not affect your care, and we will contact you by phone instead.
Consent to receive text messages is never a condition of treatment, and mobile numbers collected for appointment messaging are not shared or sold to third parties for marketing.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses cookies and similar technologies for analytics, advertising measurement and visitor identification. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google’s analytics and advertising storage is off by default. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, or you opt out on our Do Not Sell or Share page, our visitor-identification tool does not load and Google’s advertising signals are turned off. You can also control cookies through your browser settings.
Who we share information with
Service providers who help us operate the practice and this website — our practice management and scheduling system, analytics, advertising-measurement and visitor-identification providers, and, where you have asked us to, your insurer for claims. Providers who handle protected health information do so under a business associate agreement. We also disclose information where the law requires it.
Your California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the CCPA and CPRA give you the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, to request a copy, to request deletion, to request correction, and to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information for money. Some tools on this website, such as visitor identification and advertising measurement, may count as sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can opt out on our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page, and we honor Global Privacy Control automatically.
Medical information held by a licensed healthcare provider is governed by HIPAA and California’s Confidentiality of Medical Information Act rather than the CCPA, and your rights in your medical record are set out in our Notice of Privacy Practices.
To make a request, call us on (310) 310-8659. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
Security, retention, and children
We use reasonable safeguards to protect the information we hold, and retain it for as long as needed to provide care and meet legal and professional record-keeping requirements. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
This website is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information through it.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy, and the date at the top shows when it last changed. Questions about this policy, or about your information, can be directed to the practice on (310) 310-8659 or in person at 2222 Santa Monica Blvd, Suite 203, Santa Monica, CA 90404.
